GEAR TESTS: Light and Motion Sola Nightsea

It was great to be back on the island of Bonaire — the Caribbean's Mecca of diving! With almost 90 marine protected dive sites, there's an abundance of options for every diver. Scuba divers from around the world know Bonaire is famous for its beautiful coral reefs and easy access shore diving. But the night life you ask? Well, it's the yin to the yang.

For those of us divers who are nocturnal and possibly allergic to day light, it is an unreal playground where the ocean transforms once the sun goes down. Light & Motion provided over a dozen Sola Nigjhtsea lights, mask filters, and filters for every camera and strobe set up that Backscatter brought to the Digital Shootout. This made it possible for all guests to have the opportunity to shoot fluorescence photos or videos with the set up they were comfortable using. From the GoPro 5 with 4k video capability to the RED Cinema setups and everything in between, Shootout guests were ready to rock the night away!

I love how many new night divers aka "night stalkers" come out of the woodwork here at the DSO to fluorescence dive with me. Whether they've done it before or it's their first time, the common denominator is that they have a sense of adventure that they thirst for. With Light & Motion and Nightsea's collaboration on the Sola Nightsea lights, that thirst was quenched each time a diver went out to experience fluorescence diving in Bonaire. 

From the youngest diver, a mere 10 years old to the least experienced or most experienced diver, every individual had a unique and memorable experience that they were excited to share as soon as they got out of the water. It's exciting to share this moment with Shootout participants because it reminds me of my first fluorescence dive and how I still get excited about it every time I get out of the water. With the advanced technology and the power of the Sola Nightsea fluorescence lights, I discover new things about the ocean every time I night dive. As a naturalist, the passion of discovering the unknown is what drew me to scuba diving in the first place and I am so thankful that Light & Motion and Nightsea have fueled that passion of discovery for myself and all my "night stalkers" dive buddies.

Bonaire is one of the best diving locations for fluorescence diving! There is so much to see and discover in the arms of Bonaire's calm waters. To all my "night stalkers," I look forward to seeing you next year at the 2018 Digital Shootout in Roatan!
