GEAR TESTS: PANASONIC LUMIX-DMC-GH5
Video Overview
Robin Dodd Producer |
I shot the GH5 as my primary camera during the 2018 Digital Shootout, and I can decidedly say that it is one of my favorite current camera systems when it comes to shooting underwater. The GH5 is very simple to operate and understand, but if you take the time to dig deep into it you will find a wide variety of cool tools to help when shooting video. The ability to record video in 4k resolution at 60 frames per second is by far my favorite feature, as it allows for a huge amount of room in your footage to get creative during the editing stage. I found that whether shooting with video lights or relying only on ambient light, the GH5 was able to simply execute an accurate manual white balance. I love this since it means minimal color correction during post-production. I really like the NA-GH5 housing for this camera from Nauticam, as the control placement and operation is basically seamless, enabling you to never have to take your hands off the grips to hit all of the most important controls.
