GEAR TESTS: Backscatter M52 Underwater 0.50X 120° Wide Angle Wet Lens Underwater Review
ROBIN DODD Producer |
The key to transforming the Olympus TG-6 into a capable wide angle rig lies with the Backscatter M52 Wide Angle Lens. This optic converts the cameras field of view from narrow to super wide, allowing the user to get in very close to large subjects in order to fill the frame with them for the best color, contrast, and clarity. While this lens does need to be burped underwater to clear the space between housing and lens, the addition of the AOI Quick Release System makes it a breeze to just click it in and out of place with one handed operation. It's even possible to mount a lens holder on your tray in order to quickly pop the lens off and stash it on top of your rig if you need to switch to a macro shooting configuration in a hurry.
