GEAR TESTS: Nauticam WWL-1B Underwater Review

The WWL-1B (or Wet Wide Lens 1 'Buoyancy')  is described by Nauticam as having  "the highest quality wet-changeable underwater wide-angle conversion optics ever made, featuring unmatched contrast, overall sharpness, corner sharpness, and clarity." I must admit that I agree with them.

The WWL-1B paired with the Sony a7siii, Nauticam Underwater Housing, and Sony 28-60mm lens is the perfect underwater videographer's combination.  It is incredibly versatile with 130-degree wide-angle coverage and the ability to fully zoom through the lens with no vignetting. Acquiring "wide, mid, tight" shot sequences with one lens and on one dive makes storytelling that much easier. I had no issues with corner sharpness whilst opening up my aperture and the overall image looks very sharp.

Check out some of Todd Winner's images shot with the Nauticam WWL-1B below.
